We have not appointed a Data Protection Officer (DPO), as this is not required for a restaurant of our size. You can contact us directly with any question about your data.

2. What data we collect

• Identity and contact data you enter in the reservation or contact form: name, email address and phone number.
• Reservation data: date, time, number of guests and any notes (e.g. allergies).
• Communications: the content of emails and messages you send us.
• Technical data: your IP address and browser type, needed to display the website.

We have no customer accounts, take no online payments and use no analytics or advertising tools.

3. Legal basis

• Handling your reservation or question: performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)).
• Running and securing the website: legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)).
• Non-essential cookies: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time.
• Accounting and legal duties: legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)).

4. How we use your data

• To confirm, prepare and, if needed, change your reservation.
• To answer your questions by email or phone.
• To keep the website working and secure.

We never send advertising or newsletters without your explicit consent.

5. Sharing with third parties

We never sell your data. We only share it with service providers needed to run the website:

• Website hosting (servers in the EU and the US).
• Our email provider, to receive and answer your messages.

We only disclose data to authorities when the law requires it.

Email info@terkorbeke-restaurant.be to use these rights. We reply within 30 days, free of charge. We make no automated decisions and do no profiling. You can also lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (www.dataprotectionauthority.be).

7. Transfers outside the EU

Our hosting provider may process data (such as your IP address) in the United States. This relies on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (adequacy decision) or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

8. Cookies

This website currently sets only one cookie:

• cookieconsent_status — necessary, set by our own website — remembers your choice (accepted or declined) — 6 months — no consent required.
• As proof of consent (Art. 7 GDPR) we log, for each choice, an anonymous consent ID, your choice, date and time, the policy version, the language, the page and your browser type. The ID is also kept locally in your browser (localStorage).
• As soon as you pick a language yourself, that choice (Dutch, English or French) is kept locally in your browser (localStorage). It is a necessary preference, not a cookie, and it shares no personal data.

We use no statistics, advertising or social-media cookies. If we add any later, they will only be set after you accept them. You can change your choice at any time via 'Cookie settings' at the bottom of the page, or clear cookies in your browser settings (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge).

9. Retention

• Reservation and contact data: up to 12 months after your last contact.
• Accounting records: 7 years, as required by law.
• Your cookie choice: 6 months in your browser; the consent log: 2 years, then deleted automatically.

After that, we delete or anonymise your data.

10. Security

The website uses an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Only the people handling your reservation can access your data. No system is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect it.

11. Data breaches

If a breach puts your rights at risk, we report it to the Data Protection Authority within 72 hours, and if the risk is high we also inform you directly.

12. Children

Our website is not aimed at children under 16. If you believe we have received a child's data, email info@terkorbeke-restaurant.be and we will delete it.

13. Changes

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest change; we announce important changes on the website.
